Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have MBBS along with the relevant postgraduate qualification or diploma for the specialist post applied for.
- Obstetrician & Gynaecologist: MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or DGO
- Paediatrician: MD/DNB in Paediatrics or DCH
- Anaesthetist: MD/DNB in Anaesthesia or DA
- MD Medicine/Physician: MD/DNB in General Medicine
- General Surgeon: MS/DNB in General Surgery
- Orthopaedic Surgeon: Relevant MS/DNB/MD/D.Ortho qualification
Age Limit
The minimum age is 21 years. The maximum age varies by category and can go up to 42 years. PwD and eligible departmental candidates may receive relaxation as per the notification.

Candidates must fulfil the applicable medical registration requirements with BCMR Patna, MCI or NMC before joining.
SHS Bihar Specialist Doctor Salary
Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly honorarium.
- Specialist Doctors with MD/MS/DNB: ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,20,000 per month, depending on specialty and posting.
- Diploma-qualified candidates: ₹90,000 per month.
The exact remuneration depends on the post, qualification and place of posting.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on a 100-mark merit system:
- MBBS marks – 60 marks
- PG Degree (MD/MS/DNB) – 40 marks
- Diploma – 30 marks
