The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has released the X-Ray Assistant Recruitment 2026 notification for 82 Class-3 vacancies. Candidates who have passed 12th (HSC) with Physics, Chemistry and English can apply online through the OJAS portal from 20 July 2026 (2:00 PM) to 3 August 2026 (11:59 PM), with fee payment allowed until 6 August 2026.
This is a strong opportunity for 12th-pass science students in Gujarat looking for a stable paramedical government job, since there is no separate interview stage — selection rests entirely on one written examination followed by document verification. Below is the complete guide: category-wise vacancy break-up for both recruiting offices, eligibility, age relaxation, fee, the full exam pattern with marks distribution, salary progression, and a detailed OJAS application walkthrough.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC/12th) examination with Physics, Chemistry and English as subjects, from the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board or an equivalent recognised board. Basic computer knowledge is also required.
Important concession: Candidates who do not currently hold a computer knowledge certificate can still apply — but they must pass a basic computer knowledge test before the appointing authority prior to appointment. Failing to do so makes the candidature invalid.
Age Limit & Age Relaxation
Candidates must be not less than 18 years and not more than 33 years as on 3 August 2026.
| Category | Relaxation | Maximum Age Limit |
| General category women | 5 years | – |
| Reserved category men | 5 years | – |
| Reserved category women | 10 years (5+5) | 45 years |
| General category PwD men | 10 years | 45 years |
| General category PwD women | 15 years (10+5) | 45 years |
| Reserved category PwD men | 15 years (5+10) | 45 years |
| Reserved category PwD women | 20 years (5+10+5) | 45 years |
| Ex-servicemen | Service period + 3 years | – |
Candidates already in Gujarat Government service may also receive upper age relaxation as per the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
Application Fee
| Unreserved (UR) | ₹500 |
| Reserved (all categories of women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD, Ex-servicemen) | ₹400 |
The fee must be paid online (Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI or Wallet) after the application is confirmed on OJAS. The last date to pay is 6 August 2026 (11:59 PM). Candidates who appear for the examination are eligible for a refund.
Exam Pattern & Selection Process
Selection is based on a single-stage computer-based/OMR written examination followed by document verification. The paper is objective-type (MCQ) and carries 210 questions for 210 marks.
| Part | Subject | Marks |
| Part-A | Reasoning & Data Interpretation | 30 |
| Part-A | Numerical / Quantitative Aptitude | 30 |
| Part-A | Constitution of India, Current Affairs, Gujarati & English Comprehension | 30 |
| Part-A Total | – | 90 |
| Part-B | Subject-related and job-relevant questions | 120 |
| Grand Total | 210 Questions | 210 Marks |
- Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) combined for Part-A and Part-B
- Negative marking: 1/4th mark deducted for every wrong answer
- Qualifying standard: Minimum 40% applies independently to both Part-A and Part-B
- After the exam: Provisional answer key → objections → final answer key → provisional result
- Document verification: Roughly twice the number of vacancies per category are called
Note the structure carefully: Part-B alone carries 120 of the 210 marks, so subject knowledge is decisive — but because the 40% qualifying standard applies independently to Part-A, a candidate strong only in the technical section can still be eliminated on general studies.
Salary and Pay Scale
Selected candidates are initially appointed on fixed pay before moving to the regular pay matrix. During the first five years, appointees receive a fixed monthly pay of ₹26,000. After satisfactory completion of the fixed-pay period, they are placed in the regular pay scale with applicable allowances (DA, HRA and others as per Gujarat Government rules).

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong category selection: GSSSB does not entertain any request to change caste/SEBC/EWS category after the application is confirmed.
- Photo/signature size errors: Upload exactly as specified (JPG, under 15 KB). A mismatched photo across stages causes identification problems later.
- Confirming too early: No correction is possible after confirmation — you would need a fresh application with a new confirmation number.
- Skipping the fee step: Paying the fee is a separate, mandatory step. An unpaid application is rejected without notice.
- Inactive contact details: Keep your registered mobile number and email active — GSSSB sends all exam updates via SMS and email.
Documents Required
- HSC/12th mark sheet showing Physics, Chemistry and English
- School leaving certificate for age proof
- Caste / SEBC (non-creamy layer) / EWS certificate in the prescribed format
- Computer knowledge certificate (or undertaking to pass the test before appointment)
- PwD or Ex-servicemen certificate, if claiming relaxation
- Recent passport-size photograph and signature

Prepare for the Exam
Since Part-A (reasoning, quantitative aptitude, Constitution, current affairs, Gujarati & English) carries a separate 40% qualifying bar, do not treat it as secondary. Practise timed mock papers with negative marking to build accuracy. Our curated Best Books for Government Exams 2026 covers exactly these reasoning, aptitude and general awareness sections used across GSSSB Class-3 papers.
