Eligible ITI-qualified candidates can apply online from 20 July 2026 to 19 August 2026 at nfr.indianrailways.gov.in. Complete details are given below.

Stipend
The minimum stipend for NTC/STC holders is ₹9,600 per month (effective 11 September 2025), rising to ₹10,560/month (2nd year) and ₹11,040/month (3rd year) where exemption is admissible under the apprenticeship curriculum. Stipend rates are subject to revision as per extant rules.
Eligibility Criteria
All trades (except Medical Laboratory Technician): Passed Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, plus a National Trade Certificate (ITI) or Provisional Certificate from NCVT/SCVT in the notified trade. Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology): Passed 12th Class (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with a minimum of 50% marks in both Class 10 and Class 12. The 50% Matriculation requirement is relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Age Limit: 15 to 24 years as on 19 August 2026, with upper-age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and as per rules for other categories.
Selection Process
Selection is purely merit-based with no written examination. The unit-wise merit list is prepared using the percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) plus ITI marks in the relevant trade, with the final panel based on the average of the two, followed by document verification.

- Navigate to General Info → Departments → Personnel → Act Apprentice Notification.
- Register and fill the online application, indicating your Unit-Department-Trade preferences.
- Upload the required documents and pay the application fee of ₹100 (if applicable) online.
- Submit only one application before 19 August 2026 (17:30 hrs) and preserve the Registration Number.
